We certainly had a good fighters' practice starting with the double elimination tourney run on two fields. Syr Raim marshalled one of the fields while Shair Fiachna (Theatyn) took the other. Evvy, our herald, got to try field heraldry for the first time. Lord Geoffrey was one of the valiant participants, and the overall tourney win went to Duke Boru Aelwyn. The list for the tourney was wonderfully run by Lady Maggie with her two assistant runners.

After lunch was the excellent and creative reenactment of a Nile battle researched and designed by Fiachna, complete with castles, war boats, Moors, Crusaders, et al! It was based on the Fifth Crusade's Egyptian campaign of 1218-1221-not your average melee fight, but it looked like a challenge and a lot of fun. Fiachna obviously put a lot of work into this battle and the fighters got into the spirit of it, too.

We didn't have all the activities we had planned for. The equestrian events were unfortunately cancelled due to mundane difficulties preventing the equestrians from attending. The participants in the rapier event had a lot of good fun and fighting and overall a good day, but due to a lengthy authorization did not hold an actual tournament. Due to Trafic problems on I75, a few of the other activities were likewise not held, but the things that did happen made up most of the lack.

The children had a good morning doing activities with Miss Molli. We had several really nice static A&S entries on display. There was a long line of merchant tents to browse through and drool over. The classes by Tribe Zarafeet including dance, painting, and costuming, embroidery at Ardath's tent, the armor making class at the forge, and Gryffri's coin minting all kept the populace entertained and entranced through the day.

At Their Royal Majesties' Court, several of our shire members received awards. Mara Sutherland and Rebecca the Egyptian were invited into the Order of the Argent Comet for their services to the shire. Tibea Grace O'Quinn was thanked for all her work with children by her Cygnet's Nest award. Awards of Arms were given to Eíbhlín inghean Fhearghusa, TBass, Thomas von Hein, Mara Sutherland (although she had already received the award at Legends, she got the actual scroll here), and Megotta of Thyme Keep. Congratulations to all!

The shire also awarded some of the populace with hand-painted Egyptian papyrus scrolls for their efforts made during this event. The Heavy Weapons Champion was Duke Boru Aelwyn, and the Archery Champion scroll was given to a lady who fought with war arrows during the melee fight. The Pharaoh's Phavorite award went to Fiachna for his wonderful battle reenactment and hard efforts (as usual!). The Best Encampment scroll went to Lord Conrad Eisenhart and his lady Brianna, who had obviously put a lot of work into their home away from home. Syr Raim won the Static A&S scroll for his medieval bench/storage. Ardath won the Best Merchant Display, and the Hair to Die For scroll went to Lord Raven's dog, Niko. Grateful thank yous went to Peach Curry and Tribe Zarafeet for their entertainment help. And the populace of Marion Glen presented a scroll of thanks to our autocrat and seneschal Rebecca, for her hard work in getting this shire started, and in pulling together this event.
